Take advantage of the wealth of expertise housed within universities and research bodies by finding out where you can collaborate on research and development projects. Information on sector specialisation, and the contact details for relevant professors, is publicly available online. The UK Collaborative on Development Sciences (UKCDS) has outlined six key factors to success, including: finding a common, shared vision, an equitable sharing of resources/responsibilities/benefits, transparent decision making, creation of genuine respect between partners, pursuit and achievement of higher-level outcomes and support for the partnership from participating organisations.
