Target Setting

Make target progress visible

How to ensure employees buy in to targets.

Introduce employee recognitions schemes that make business progress visible and reward success publicly. Recognition by, and in front of, an employee’s peers can be extremely motivational. A study conducted by advisory firm Deloitte found that organisations that provide recognition of employees’ efforts saw a 14 per cent increase in employee engagement, productivity and performance over those that do not. Base recognition and rewards on achievements not length of service. Visible recognition, such as awards handed out at meetings or summer or Christmas parties, or a ranking system on a leaderboard can be beneficial to employers and the business can work. Another study carried out by Forbes discovered that firms who used employee recognition most had lower staff turnover.
