Exporting into unusual countries can open up unexpected doors

Doing business successfully to one unusual export country can lead to opportunities in others.

The Philippines was attractive to Indigo Software because of its demographic but also because, having gained a positioning in this country of over 100m with its western culture, it offered a gateway to other Asian countries.

“The Philippines is an ideal export base for companies to consider, because of the very young, well-educated population demographic who are also highly motivated with a strong work ethic,” said Mike Hill CEO of Indigo Software Asia Pacific. The company is using its local connections and its understanding of culture and working practices to export into markets in the Asia region.

The company has seconded people from the UK to work alongside and, where necessary, to act as mentors to local people in the Philippines so that it can identify other markets nearby and act quickly to move into them.
