Simply having a scheme isn’t enough – you need to have the processes, incentives and leadership necessary to ensure that good suggestions are put forward and employees can see them being implemented. Toyota’s suggestion scheme receives hundreds of thousands of suggestions each year and its leaders believe that it became most effective when it was opened up to all employees.
